Registration of an exploited SFE

All SSEs covered by the new regulations must have contact details linked to the operator in charge. Regardless of whether you own the SFE you fly or not, the person (natural or legal) who owns the SFE must be registered as an operator with the MPA, with full name, personal identification number or ID number, address, email and telephone number.

How do you report an accident or incident?

If an accident or incident occurs while you are flying, you must report it to the Civil Aviation Authority.

Why do I need to report an incident with my SSEA?

By reporting an incident you are helping to improve flight safety. The reason for collecting information on incidents is to improve flight safety. In order to identify hazards and dangerous situations, the APA collects and analyses incident reports. This enables an early discovery of patterns and measures are taken to improve flight safety. The reports are only used to improve flight safety (only when serious risks are taken or if someone does something to compromise flight safety, the incident report can be used outside the scope of flight safety improvement work).

Is it mandatory to report incidents with SSIs?

The following incidents are mandatory for reporting by anyone flying an SFE:

  • If someone is seriously injured
  • If there has been an accident with a fatal outcome, or
  • If the incident involves manned aircraft (aeroplanes, helicopters, etc.)

What operator information needs to be entered?

  • The full name of the natural person or the name and VAT number of legal persons.
  • The address, email and phone number of the operator.
  • Confirmation by the legal entity that the remote pilots who performed the flight are qualified.

There are rules explaining when reporting is mandatory and which incidents must be reported.

Even if it is not mandatory to report an incident or if the person reporting it is not obliged to do so, the APA encourages voluntary reporting of an incident in order to improve flight safety.

If there is a suspected criminal act during an incident or accident, then it should be reported to the Police.

When someone is seriously injured or someone dies, or when an aircraft is extensively damaged, we should contact the Police and the APA, as an investigation may need to be carried out.
